Samsung Galaxy phones have supported eSIM since the Galaxy S20 series. If you have a compatible Galaxy device, installing a travel eSIM takes about 2 minutes. This guide covers Samsung's One UI interface step by step β€” from scanning the QR code to activating your data abroad.

Before You Start β€” Checklist

βœ… Make sure you have:
πŸ“± A compatible Samsung Galaxy (S20 or newer, Z Flip3+, Z Fold3+, A54+)
πŸ”“ Your phone is carrier-unlocked
πŸ“Ά A stable WiFi connection
πŸ“§ Your Zyroam QR code (check your email after purchase)
πŸ–₯ QR code displayed on another screen or printed
⚠️

Samsung eSIM availability varies by region. Some Galaxy models sold in certain countries have eSIM disabled by the carrier or manufacturer. Check Settings β†’ Connections β†’ SIM manager. If you don't see "Add eSIM," your specific model may not support it.

Method 1: QR Code Installation (Recommended)

Settings β€Ί Connections β€Ί SIM manager β€Ί Add eSIM
1
Open Settings on your Samsung Galaxy.
2
Tap "Connections".
3
Tap "SIM manager" (or "SIM card manager" on older One UI versions).
4
Tap "Add eSIM" or "Add mobile plan."
5
Select "Scan QR code from service provider".
6
Point your camera at the QR code from your Zyroam email. Your phone will detect and download the profile.
7
Tap "Confirm" to add the plan. Download takes 30–60 seconds.
8
When prompted, you can rename the eSIM β€” use something like "Zyroam Travel" or "Japan Data."
βœ…

Done! Your eSIM is installed. It won't use any data or start your plan until you activate it at your destination.

Method 2: Manual Installation

If the QR code won't scan, enter the details manually:

Settings β€Ί Connections β€Ί SIM manager β€Ί Add eSIM β€Ί Enter activation code
1
At the "Add eSIM" screen, tap "Enter activation code" instead of scanning.
2
Paste the SM-DP+ address from your Zyroam email.
3
Enter the Activation Code if provided separately.
4
Tap "Connect" and follow the confirmation prompts.

How to Activate at Your Destination

Your eSIM is installed but inactive. When you land at your destination, follow these steps:

Settings β€Ί Connections β€Ί SIM manager β€Ί Enable eSIM + Data Roaming
1
Go to Settings β†’ Connections β†’ SIM manager.
2
Tap your Zyroam eSIM and toggle it ON.
3
Go to Settings β†’ Connections β†’ Mobile networks.
4
Select your eSIM line and enable "Data roaming".
5
Back in SIM manager, set your eSIM as the "Mobile data" line.
6
Wait 10–30 seconds for the network name and signal to appear.
⚠️

Data Roaming must be ON for the eSIM line. This is the #1 reason Samsung eSIMs don't connect. Each SIM line has its own roaming toggle β€” turning it on for your eSIM doesn't affect your primary SIM.

Managing Dual SIM on Samsung

πŸ“ž
Calls & SMS: Keep your physical SIM as the preferred line for calls and messages in SIM manager. Your home number stays active.
πŸ“Ά
Mobile data: Set your Zyroam eSIM as the mobile data line while abroad. Switch back when you return home.
πŸ””
Quick toggle: Pull down the notification shade and long-press the SIM card icon to quickly switch data between lines.

Troubleshooting

🚫 "Add eSIM" option missing in SIM manager
Your Samsung model may not support eSIM in your region, or your phone is carrier-locked. Check with your carrier for eSIM eligibility and unlock status. Also try updating to the latest One UI version.
πŸ“΅ eSIM installed but no internet
Go to Settings β†’ Connections β†’ Mobile networks β†’ select your eSIM β†’ enable Data Roaming. Also verify the eSIM is set as the Mobile Data line in SIM manager.
πŸ“· QR code camera won't open
Make sure you're selecting "Scan QR code" from the Add eSIM screen, not using the regular camera app. On some models, restart the phone and try again.
🐌 Slow connection or keeps disconnecting
Toggle Airplane Mode on and off. Go to Settings β†’ Connections β†’ Mobile networks β†’ eSIM line β†’ Network operators β†’ select automatically. If issues persist, check APN settings match those provided in your Zyroam email.
⚠️ "SIM not provisioned" error
This usually means the eSIM profile didn't download completely. Delete the eSIM profile and re-scan the QR code. If the QR code was already used, contact Zyroam support for a replacement.

When You're Done Traveling

πŸ’€
Keep it (recommended): Go to SIM manager β†’ tap your eSIM β†’ toggle it OFF. The profile stays stored but uses no data or battery.
πŸ—‘
Delete it: SIM manager β†’ tap your eSIM β†’ Remove. Once deleted, most plans require a new QR code to reinstall.
